 ABOUT THE DANONE NATIONS CUP

In the height years since it was created in 2000, the Danone Nations Cup has become the world's top football tournament for children in the 10-12 age group, and has already made 15 million kids' dreams come true.
The World Final is the culmination of a year of competition, over five continents. The winners of the national tournaments in the 40 participating countries come together in a prestigious stadium, filled with bigger and bigger crowds, to play their favourite sport under the proud gaze of some of the greatest stars of the international game, and in particular the event's sponsor: Zinedine Zidane.

Endorsed by FIFA and the FFF (the French Football Association), the World Final of the Danone Nations Cup is a true festival of sport, which brings together 600 children from different countries and cultures. The event is based on four fundamental values: openness, pleasure of the game, fair-play and accessibility.

More than just a football tournament, every year the Danone Nations Cup gives thousands of kids the chance to "believe in their dreams", taking part in a unique experience where the emphasis is firmly on openness and fraternity.

The Danone Nations Cup also gives hope to hundreds of children affected by illness, donating all revenues from ticket sales to the association ELA, which is sponsored by Zinedine Zidane.

"It's great to see that wherever they come from in the world, all these kids have the same dreams… self-respect, respect for others, for a better world."
Lilian Thuram, winner of the World Cup in 1998 and the European Championships in 2000

"I´m still a very young player (23 y.o.) and I´m already ambassador of such an important tourney like Danone Nations Cup, it´s really an honor for me. When I was young, there wasn´t a tounament like this and the possibility to represent Brazil in front of 30.000 people, etc... It´s amazing."
Nilmar, Brazilian international player and 2007 ambassador

"I'm very happy and honoured that Danone have asked me to be their UK Ambassador for the 2007 Danone Nations Cup. I feel that a tournament of this size and calibre gives children a fantastic opportunity and can help teach them about teamwork and what it is like to play football on a big stage. Looking at the International Final in Lyon, it really doesn't get much bigger than playing in a Champions league stadium in front of 32,000 people. I wish all of the children involved the very best of luck and I hope that they have a great time and enjoy the football."
Peter Crouch, English international player and ambassador 2007

"When I was young, the Danone Nations Cup didn't exist; I would loved to have played in a tournament like that, where more than 2.5 million children from 5 continent participate. It is important to enjoy yourself while playing football if you want to win. Go to the Danone Nations Cup! I wish everyone a lot of enjoyment!"
Philipp Lahm, German international player and ambassador 2008
